21 Way To Use Less Gas In Any Car

classic_car.jpg 1) Drive Less. Don’t drive a car when you Get there another way. Walk, Use Ridesearch or A Carpool, Bicycle, you’ll be healthier, or take a bus. Just Don’t Go. Save gas and get exercise. Will it kill you to walk to the grocery store? Yea you can’t get as much so you can walk there more often.

2) Change your air filter. A more efficient brand of air filter will pay for themselves in most vehicles in fuel savings. Yours is probably old and costing cash.

3) Get Low Resistance Tires. Some tires, like Michelin Energy MX 4 Plus increase gas mileage because it takes less energy (GAS) to roll them.

4)Get a gas company membership card or credit card that offers discounts. Some rewards cards have gas payback, use this data base to find one.

5)Give your car a tune up and oil change. The more efficiently your car burns gas the less gas you will be buying.

6) Reduce your commute. Move closer to work, work closer to home, or take public transportation to your job.

7) Use the lowest manufacturer recommended octane for your car. The lower octane gas is cheaper.

8)Avoid idling. While idling, your car gets exactly 0 miles per gallon.

9). Plan ahead and combine trips. One route of several stops is less gas than several trips. Make a list and wait until you can do many stops.

10) Call ahead if you need to meet someone to avoid wasted trips

11) Walk between stops. Park between a couple places you want to go then walk.

12) Use a GPS system so you can pick the shortest route anywhere.

13 Check the tire air pressures weekly. A slightly higher pressure will improve fuel mileage and handling, but too high will degrade traction and wear the tires rapidly.

14) Drive at a consistent speed as much as you can.

15. Maintain a safe following distance. You will brake and accelerate less.

16. Drive slower, it uses less gas. Do you really have to hurry all the time everywhere? Accelerate evenly.

17) Don’t carry around junk in the trunk that you don’t really need.

18) When you see the red light up ahead slow down so maybe you can still be rolling when it turns green.

19) Park in the first spot you find. You’re burning gas looking for the closest spot, so walk a little.

20) Use a synthetic oil instead of mineral oil. This will cause your engine to run better and give you better mileage.

21) Park in the shade. Gas evaporates right out of your tank, and it does so faster when you park directly in the sun - winter or summer. Parking in the shade keeps it cooler inside, and you will need less A/C to cool off when you get back in. If there is no shade available, park so that your gas tank (the actual tank under the car, not the valve to fill it) is facing away from the direct sun.
